Having local support from the Herne Bay Community is so encouraging to us as a Charity. Without it, our work in helping children in Ukraine, would be very difficult. Miles and Barr Estate Agents, in our local town, have given us just that, in supporting our work at the Orphanage in Korosten, Ukraine.

On our last trip we took with us 35 mini rugby balls that had been donated to us by the Office in Herne Bay High Street. We were not prepared for the flurry of excitement that came from the children, aged 2-12, as we opened the bag.

These children arrive at the orphanage with nothing more than what they stand in and, more often that not, leave the same way, without anything to call their own. Each child was given a Miles and Barr rugby ball, not only to play with but to keep. The smiles and laughter that filled the hall that afternoon as they played like the children they are, will be a lasting memory.

Thank you to the staff at Miles and Barr for their support of our work at the Orphanage and hope that we can work in partnership again in the future.

August 2018

During our May trip, Steve and Jacqui Catt worked with some of the families in improving their homes. They want to carry on with this work and held a fabulous garden party raising over £1000 to help with our next building project.
Thank you to all that supported what was a wonderful evening.

Warm this Winter

December 2017

Although this week has brought us frosty mornings and some with snow, we are able to turn our heating up and warm ourselves from the cold outside. The lovely Paischnyk Family in the village of Novvy Korogod, like many, worry about how they will stay warm when their winter plummets to -30's. But with the support of the Herne Bay Link we were able to buy them logs to see them through the winter months. Such a small price to warm their home and hearts.

Dream come true for Anna

December 2017

Anna lives in a small house with her two children Sacha, 4 and Igor, 18 months. We have given a lot of support to Anna, who puts the needs of her children before her own and has tried to make improvements to her home herself, using the money from the Family Support Project and a part time job working in the Market.

Because of Anna’s determination we decided to re-model her home so that it would be a safe and secure place to bring up her family. What started out as a small project has resulted in a whole remodelling:

  • New windows

  • New internal and external doors

  • Replacement electrical fuse board, wiring and sockets

  • Loft & wall insulation

  • Plasterboard for walls and ceiling

  • New flooring

  • And general redecoration.

As a Charity, we aim to bring permanent solutions to problems, and that in turn will bring permanent peace of mind to our families
