Paving the Road Towards a Better Future

Who We Are and What We Do

Herne Bay Link started in October 2015 following a short visit to Borodyanka to meet the family that we started to sponsor a few months before. We were shocked at the level of poverty and illness in a country only a 3 hour flight from the comforts of our own home.
We decided that our help was desperately needed by the children, their families and the community who are still affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

Meet the Team

2018 saw 4 new active members join our Link.

Steve & Jacqui, Lindsay & young Maisie have joined our team and visited Borodyanka to see how they can help families and children.

All are now actively fundraising for various projects and event planning is well under way.

70km from the Exclusion Zone

And still contaminated land

1000's of evacuees were relocated in the Borodyanka region from 5 towns within the Chernobyl exclusion zone, despite still being contaminated by the nuclear disaster. Today over 11,000 children have the status of a person affected by the accident. Many have lost parents through disease and continue to fight battles themselves every day.
The Centre for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation was opened in 1994 to help those suffering from Chernobyl and remains today the centre of the community.
We are so pleased to be working with passionate, committed staff in bringing hope to the children of Chernobyl.
