Pinsk Children's Hospice -Â Belarus
The Pinsk Hospice was set up by Janet Waddams Founder of the charity Chernobyl Rye We are privileged to have been asked to support this project and help to continue the legacy set up by Janet to help terminally ill children.
The Pinsk Childrens Hospice benefits many families living in the Brest Region of Belarus, it is one of the worst affected areas from the Chernobyl disaster.
30 families now benefit from the Hospice team and the numbers of families is predicted to increase again in this year. It is difficult to imagine what the circumstances would be like for these families without the Hospice team.
There is also a summer house that was purchased by a sponsor for families to use so they can spend quality time together.

About the Service
The Pinsk Hospice team is made up of two nurses, one doctor, a psychologist and a priest Sergey Plotnisky . The support they provide is extended to all the family members during the childs treatment. . Each family is assigned a palliative nurse,. The team makes home visits to supervise the child’s care, provides medication and supplies and also evaluates the social and emotional needs of all family members
The Team
Each nurse looks after 9 children and visits fortnightly as well as routine visits from the Doctor and Counsellor. Below will give you an idea of the running cost for the team.
2 x Nurses - £150 per month
Palliative Care Doctor - £120 per month
Bereavement Psychologist - £150 per month
